Dean was born and lives on Easter island (Rapa Nui) one of the world's most isolated inhabited islands located in the southeastern Pacific Ocean. He has 27 children and 4 wives.

Dean uses ancient tools to fashion his prototypes. He then gives it to his development team who receives instructions by a strange language consisting of mostly grunts, clicks and drawings chisled on to stone tablets.
